Based on what I heard(my experience too), if your attorney submits your I485 along with EAD and AP, you don't get a FP on the EAD card. When you apply for EAD online, then you will do a FP based on the FP notice that you will get later.
To activate EAD, you need to go to SSN office and apply for new SSN and once you get your new SSN, you are all set.
This is only my experience. For expert advice, always check with a qualified attorney
My wife will be on H1(currently on H4) october onwards...we received our EAD's yesterday. Can I still go and apply for SSN? I mean will that mean she is on EAD and H1 no longer valid?

Dear Friends,
I have an approved I-140 with PD of Mar 06, but i left this company to join a new company. I have tried many times to file PERM through this new company but still unsuccessful. I am waiting to withdraw my PERM appeal to file a new PERM since January 09 (so folks don't ask me to update my profile because i am yet to file PERM, I have updated my profile three times since 2006 and also cleared it).

I understand that your intention is to get heard. I appreciate your effort at writing letter. However writing to the president will not help us much. Here is why:
In the USA, infact for that matter in most democracies, Laws are made by elected representatives unless it is an executive order to grant an immediate relief.
The composition and powers of the House and the Senate are established in Article One of the Constitution. The major power of the House is to pass federal legislation that affects the entire country, although its bills must also be passed by the Senate and further agreed to by the President before becoming law (unless both the House and Senate re-pass the legislation with a two-thirds majority in each chamber). The total number of voting representatives is fixed by law at no more than 435.[1] (United States congressional apportionment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_congressional_apportionment))
So, In our case, the president at the most can sympathise with our cause and the hardships we face because of the limbo, But he cannot really help until there is a bill that passes both the house and the senate.
So, Can I suggest that it will be even more worthwhile if you contact your congressman/woman and go meet them. We need them to understand our plight and anguish.

Folks,
It is worth trying but from my experience over the last 3 years of contacting congressman's office....it really is not that important.....I have heard that the congressman needs to be influential et al...that's nonsense...the congressman never gets to read ur mail...it goes to an immigration person mostly a junior staff member and he does what lawyers do thru AILA to get info on the case...they can neither expedite a case nor get valuable information for you...

I agree with Ronhira. He is not campaigning for dems.
What he says is right. There is more to saying "he is doing a lip service, didn't fix this, didn't do this", etc.. Yes, he would have said that. But there is a lot more to think about than simply saying "he didn't do xyz". He deals tons of things day in and day out, and with a lot more force.
We need to completely come out of our frustration mode and think about that. Its not a one man job to get a bill passed. It take A LOT!
He inherited the worst economy when he assumed office and he took it to thus far. He got the healthcare reform passed, which is as sensitive and as complex as Immigration.

I mailed my I485 to NSC on June 29 , 2007. Reached to NSC 07/02/07.
NSC sent to CSC. CSC approved my EAD .Again CSC transfered my I 485 to NSC on 08/26/06.
Fingerprints were taken on 01/12/08.
After that no LUD.
What woul be caluclated as my RD?
Can I expect Interview ? OrI am going to get GC soon?
Please clarify my doubt.

Hi
I am in 7th year of H1b now..last time my h1b was renewed dates were until April 2008. I went to india in Dec 2006 and came back in Jan 2007. My passport was expiring on Sept 29th 2007 so Immigration officer dated my I-94 until sept 29th 2007 and told me same thing that you can go to any port of entery or international airport and meet USCIS officer and extend your I-94 with your new passport. I waited until last moment and around sept 24th I went to USCIS officer on airport as well as on Port of Entry (called Deffered Inspection site). Both places got answer you need to file extention online because we only correct mistakes and this is not a mistake but it was case of passport expiration. I called my lawyer, my hr, my company lawyer. Everyone told me I cant work after 29th sept as my i-94 is expiring. Thats same as your H1 expiring. SO either leave country and comeback with new stamping or file new h1b. I ended up filing new H1b as i had only couple of days left before my I-94 would have expired. I have filed I-485 and ead and my I-140 is pending. My pd is Dec 2003. As per my lawyer I want be out of status as mY I-485 is pending but I will loose eligibility to work as I wont have any work authorization once my I-94 expires and dont have EAD approved on my hand. Yes you can do it. You could have done this last yr as well.
I am on H-1B and wife on H-4. We did not get our stimulus payment last year since she does not have SSN.
For people who did not receive stimulus payment last year can claim it this year. So for people like me whose wives are on ITIN, can get $600 back this year or so I think. The way to do this can be:
First file Married filing separately, claim $600 credit and then amend it to file married filing jointly. IRS will not ask stimulus back. Let me know your thoughts on this idea. I wish I could get $1200 but hey even $600 is better than nothing.

only 92 days after AOS filing.
My sponsor, I did work with them from 2002-2007. They agree to file i-485 in the hopes economy would get better. However house builders are doing very bad now and they cannot take me back after approval.
The question is, does this spoiled my chances for citizenship?
