I personally know a guy who used Nick's services. Bottomline, his 485 was rejected as Nick sold the same labor to other guys as well. As for him, spend some time on EAD and now he is back on H1. What happens to his VISA number. Returns to the pool? Which pool? Or is it lost as the VISA number was used from last year's quota.

What a massacre of history! LTTE has killed anyone who has opposed them. They killed Tamils who joined the govt. My husband is a GC holder. For some family reasons we would like to stay in INDIA for couple of years(or maximum time we can). I know we have to apply for a reentry permit. Is it a tough one to get and how early should we apply for it.

I am from AP and does not belong to either of the casts that people were fighting here.
I like YSR because of his leadership qualities. I like his guts, determination and down to earth personality. This is just his personality and I don't like the way he is spending money and all traps for poor people and making them beg. As many friends here are talking, he is corrupt, kills opponents and land mafia.
From all the posts I have not find a single person to mention JP from Loksatta. If we keep aside the feelings like state, language, caste and religion and encourage JP, we will really see bright India.

I dont understand the whole point of discussion here ... What does the IV Senior Members think about this , The idea of a lawsuit to capture the loss immigrant visas, is not against USCIS, its against the system. Infact the USCIS should be on our side, as per the USCIS Ombudsman, Mr .

How much investment is required to do this using the L1-A? This appears to be a better option than the EB-5 where money is tied up for years.
You have to work for the company outside USA for one year. therefore, you gotta be out for one year.
I am not advocating this but if a person were to go back home and wanted to come back later then al they need to do is start a business (could be consulting). After it has been running for a year then come to USA on L-1A to open up a sales/operational office and then open up your consulting company and start hiring/placing people.
Note: You need to ensure that the company is real back home to get through consular process.
I am actually very surprised at people. I would have thought that now people have come to realize that this could take a long time that people would dig in and start lobbying harder; strategizing, etc., instead, I am seeing more postings of people going back home; canada, australia, england, etc.
I will give you my story. I came here in 1993 and stayed until 1996. Didn't really think about staying here permanently. In 1996 my colleague who was from Bahamas on H-1 got me on a conference call with company attornies about doing greencard. We asked her of the process and she told that the rules were you had to work with the company for 18 months; the process could take 3 to 4 years and then you had to stay for 3 years after the greencard got approved. We both just looked at each other and thought there was no way we would do it. He went back to Bahamas and I went back to Canada thinking i wasn't going to come back and why wait anyways.
Three years later I decided I missed USA (note: Canada isn't much different but I still missed the "system" and the rush of working in the big economy with the biggest companies. I came back and stuck in greencard process now for many years.
My conclusion is that I made a mistake of going back and should have stayed the first time around. Something for everyoen to consider going back to other countries or back home.

I cannot believe there are 9 pages (and counting) worth of sentiments, because some lame talentless guy was subject to security checks at an International Airport. I'm someone who was born India, but never lived there - however I'd think there are incredibly talented Indians here in America and worldwide compared to someone who's used to blatant exploitation / sell out of Indian culture. Jayleno - me thinking sane is the reason you didn't hear from me in any malls/WM :) but I was a minority in BWW who believes in waiting till you find like minded people who are looking. cold contacting is just going against human instincts. you can't simply talk to a person about something to get his phone number and call them about this business next day. that is a reg flag right there. i couldn't do it and hence not with this business anymore. many of us are not ready to think about making millions in few short years. some people need to understand that you can't rub that idea with force on another human being.
in BWW terms, i was a quitter who can't take the business to the next level because I was afraid of rejection (getting a NO from prospects)..

I used to be very very active in IV campaigns and tried to get people sign up for IV activities. We had lobby days, workshops etc.... and we found it very difficult to explain or get people on board for IV activities though it is beneficial for them. Most people would give us the same treatment that they give the Ammway folks.

:) I thought it was understood by now, that without changes in law, there is no "speedup" (for 485 approvals). USCIS has been super efficient recently, what is missing is the "visa number".

Has some one cross validated USCIS numbers against IV Tracker data? Till now we always assumed that tracker data was 1% of entire population. This is a good time for some data guru to tell us actually how many people (% wise) are on IV. A break-up by month (PD) might be preferable because I feel older PD people are more active than newer ones.

The logic being applied at the NotCanada website is perplexing. Yes, the Canadian immigration system can be improved, but people who qualify to get in think by stepping foot on the soil their lives will be all peachy are delusional. It would be like any of you EBs coming to the US with no job offer. How long would you survive? I doubt 4 weeks. You wouldn't be able to rent a place, get a credit card, or, duh, have a paycheck. Obviously you think US is easy because when you come here, you're already employed. Canada can improve immigration system by encouraging immigrants to look for jobs before carting their entire families over. But still, the burden is on the immigrant to use their common sense. Canada, nor any country, owes you a job of your liking. YOU have to take care of yourself. It's mind boggling that an educated doctor from another country doesn't ask one colleague, or research the internet, or apply for a job, before immigrating to a country on the otherside of the planet.
