My wife had to go to Canada to get her H1B revalidated before she travelled to India. At that time, we could get an appointment in Chennai consulate only after two months, but she had to travel sooner than that. We had to spend around $1500 for airfare/lodging and other expenses to just to get the stamping.
Also, the lost wages for 3 days.
If this process is really beneficial to USA in terms of security etc, we certainly have to do this, but I don�t see why the same procedure can be done inside USA instead of travelling to a foreign country.

Looks like for July 2nd they just started and i talked to 5 other guys( who got receipt) - all of them has a sending time between 9 and 9:30 AM by FEDEX
Mine went around 11:30 by USPS on July 2nd - so i have to wait for at least 2weeks. 1 hr late means 1 week delay !!

I also just got off the phone with USCIS, I am July 2nd filer with no receipts yet. The nice lady at USCIS customer service told me that due the increase in the in-flux of applications, it is taking USCIS longer to generate the receipt notices. She told me to call them back after 2 weeks.

Dude, I have been sparring with Pappu and Starsun for quite some time now. IV needs to be a "Paying Members Only" organisation.
Per some statistics regularly floating around here, IV has 40,000 odd members. A membership fee as small as $1/month!! ($12/year), will INSURE a steady flow of funds, that will make a HUGE difference.
Even if 20,000 of that 40,000 run away due to the $12.00/yr subscription requirement, that still leaves IV with almost a QUARTER million dollars worth of cash at hand, .

I would say, lets make this a $5 monthly membership org. IV can help you much more than your Immigration attorney can.
I'm not aware of any one else who directly deals with USCIS and with chambers of govt.

I have two approved LC.
1. PD EB3 SEP 2003 for which my I140 was approved and I have applied 485 during July 2007.
2. PD EB3 MAR 2002 I got my I140 approval yesterday.
All for same company.
Is it possible for me use my new I140 for my 485 which I have I filled already? I have requested my company’s attorney to find options.

This is so depressing ...
Are they still talking about increasing H1Bs? That will create a bigger mess and those new H1Bs will have to wait 20 years before they can apply I485. Hopefully those who wish to come here as H1B will know the reality and won't be "trapped" as some of us have.

I started looking for a house soon after filing for my 485/EAD/AP in August 2007. I finally got a great deal (good price and low fixed mortgage interest rates) on a 14 year home in St Louis and then had to decide whether to wait for the EAD approval before buying the home. I decided to go ahead and buy the home.
My EAD was approved sometime back and looking at the turn of events leading up to buying the house, I realized that there is always an element of risk in committing to long-term investment without a GC. However I am sick and tired of the slow GC process and cannot keep postponing important decisions in life. We need to take risks at some point. I know with a March 2005 EB2 priority date, my dream of getting a GC is still many years away. But postponing important lifestyle decisions for later is too much of a price to pay.

I dont think Ron Hira has ever worked in IT side or on the HR side. Whats wrong if people for pursue for Masters or Phd for GC?. This Guy does not have any idea about the value this techs bring.
