The company I work for in USA has a India Office.
That office paid the exact NEW fees through HDFC.
They then couriered the HDFC receipts to my home in India.
I arrived in my city.
Went to VFS office, submitted the required doc's.
They created the courier package which is used to send the passport back.
After few days I went to the US consulate as per my scheduled appointment.
I use the VFS lounge service which helps because I had luggage etc.
It was quite a smooth process in Mumbai, except that it took 2 hours of waiting.
My 9:30 appt actually happened at 11:45.....

I think USCIS is working towards reducing the backlogs. It could be starting point for all EB community to feel better
With IV success, I foresee the EB categories as current at any point of time. And GC process is less than 3 years for any EB category

Same here. I saw another soft LUD today 6/14 after a LUD yesterday 6/13. Wonder if USCIS works on Sat or it's just some regular database update.

I'm glad I found this post. I own a D70 as of last September and I too was wondering if perhaps I was (a) going completely crazy or (b) just plain sucked and should give up. Don't get me wrong, I still classify myself as a newbie but I DO know what focus is, how to get it and what it should look like and I've thought on numerous occasions while veiwing a soft image "what the hell, I was dead on with this one".
I have to yet to upgrade my firmware, does this fix the problem (providing it isn't me) or do I still have to take the camera in for repair?

I am in bit of a situation and trying to sort my options. I got my EAD, last month. Also took care of finger printing and received AP documents also. I 485 was filed in July 07. My I-140 is not yet approved.I am accepted to school in france for one year business course, starting Jan and ending Dec 08. Max I can fly back few times from France to US, for few days (In case there is rule for not staying abroad for more than six months). Plea
I am planning to either
a) Submitmy resignation and leave US by end of Nov 07 OR
b) take Leave of Absence from my firm for 15 months.
Is there a way I can continue my GC processing, factoring that I will be out of states for whole of next year.
Your suggestions are sincerely appreciated

Folks - Amsterdam, Dubai, Brussels are the best way to go. 4 years back, I had problems with Lufthansa, I did not know I ahd to take transit visa and they never allowed me on flight and I had to travel the next day by going to german consulate in morning get visa and went back in afternoon, and surprisingly they had blocked me for that day. Until then, I always used to travel ONLY by lufthansa, but after that experience, I never wanted to. I always fly emirates and I like it.

There are lots and lots of application is rejected based on USCIS error. Stating that correct fee is not issue and I-485 Receipt is not attached.
Here is the I-765 Instruction states. As per I-765 Instruction page 5 section 7 (A): Adjustment of Applicant C(9):- Form I765 with a copy of I-485 receipt notice or other evidence the form I-485 is pending.
If you attach any evidence stating that I-485 is pending, they should not reject the application. The USCIS is confused with the date Before July 30 and after July 30, one required fees and other does not require fees. Some clerk is looking at the Notice date instead of receiving date and rejecting the application. This is a lack of clerical training issues.
We should address this to USCIS or American immigration association.

If your Attorney says it’s okay then probably you don’t have to worry.
However, your current Canadian address is not what you have in files on your I-485. Because, you can't give a foreign address.
So, I personally think you are beyond jeopardizing your pending I-485.

And, I provided my cousin's address in Detroit where I lived temporarily. Subsequent to that, I moved to Windsor, Canada, because it is a nicer place to live.
I did consult with my attorney at that time, and she suggested that it is fine for me to live in Canada.

Is this just the tip of the iceberg. We know thats true in the US as well. Publicized scams/scandals are usually only an example of what goes on in general (GAFFS !!) Generally Accepted Financial Fraud Schemes instead of GAAP Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Whats with all these white collar crime in the world...have people forgotten how to earn a honest meal??

If spouse has EAD and AP, then using of EAD will not abandon H4 status nor it will jeoperdize the GC applicant H1b status.
A safe bet for dependet is to use EAD instead of getting H1b and going thru all stamping coplications. Being a spouse of GC applicant has lots of advantages...:D.

It really comes down to how long you can wait in US (You didn't say by when u need to go to canada) and how long you are willing to wait for GC living in canada.
I personally would like to move on with my life if I move to canada. (I have waited so many years for GC.)
Given your PD of Aug 2001, I think you would be able to file 485 within a year or so. If you can stay in US for another year you may not have to think about this.
Not sure of schools since I dont have any kids of school going age yet. However dont expect that much disp[arity in educational standards from Toronto.
Yes employment opp from spouse may be limited. However there is atleast a chance compared to staying in the US. Windsor real estate is also much cheaper than Toronto (you can buy a decent home in Windsor for 200 K. You will need 300 K in Toronto for same house).
Plus if you come to the point there is no way your GC will ever come, you can always move from Windsor to Toronto.

if you are on EAD and they pay you...you will have to declare it on your taxes...so you will have to pay upwards of 33% tax on it...which is far far more than the 4% charge currently
