How is this possible, EB3 ROW also has a limit to how many they can use correct? They only can use what ever is beyond the 7 % used for India/China/Mexico/Phil (28% in total). Out of 1/3 of the 140K.
Am I right here ?
I think EB3 - ROW will stop or retro. next month or for sure in the next couple of months back to where they were. Lot of people here are saying that ROW will be current soon I am not sure where they are getting these facts.
Randy and others, do go through the older threads, there are quite detailed explanation of quota allocations. ROW is the rest of the world, and yes they get to use ALL of the rest: within ROW spillover occurs from EB-1 to EB-2 to EB-3, so whatever visas are available/leftover will be used up by EB-3 ROW -- they have suffered massive retrogression for many years, and now early PDs will not be stuck in the FBI blackhole.
I am not saying that EB-3 ROW cutoff will necessarily move further forward (i.e forward from Jan05) -- DOS intent is to use up all the remaining greencards -- and it might well be that the current cutoff will achieve that goal -- if it doesn't only then will they move the EB-3 ROW dates forward. Oversubscribed countries get a spillover ONLY if EB-1 ROW + EB-2 ROW + EB-3 ROW still leave unused visas.

Friends I think a great injustice is being done to NSC filers , their applications are taking months for ead and ap, while TSC filers are getting ead adn AP as soon as they get receipt, do you think this will improve for NSC in future, at this time looks like august NSC filers will haveto wait till the end of the year for EAD,ap, which is sad.

The status of my Travel document on USCIS site has been following for a while -:
Application Type: I131, APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On September 20, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.
How long does it take for it to actually arrive??? Any idea??

Yes, I do have EAD and AP in hand. I got my AP papers in mail around 1 week back. I am not sure about processing times at this very moment.
Also, received original 485 receipt notices from my Attoreny and it does say RD is July 2, 2007, which is good.
My case has successfully reached at NSC and have not seen any LUD after that. Still waiting for FP notices so that I can consider that everything is good with my case at NSC..

I would suggest that you apply for EAD/AP yourself without lawyer's help. I think you can just use receipt numbers.

Let us say I accumulate 40 points and return to India for good. Do I still get Social Security in India if -
1. I am a US Citizen living in India?
2. If I am a GC holder living in India?
3. I am neither a US citizen nor a GC holder living in India?

With citizens of India, it is full penson benefits, what ever it is (earned based on contributions). You don't get medicare type of thing.
For citizens of countries like Canada, it is limited by windfall limits. People who worked in both US and Canada become elligible for too much retirement benefits and it is curtailed by limits.
So in nutshell, any treaty may worsen benefits of 10 or 10+ Social Security Contributers.

We are in exact same scenario, but was thinking that H4 holder has to enter using AP to continue to use EAD after "vacation" . So is it like, Use H4 for travel and EAD to work, instead of , Use AP for travel and EAD to work? This will be of great help to many people who are scared to use AP or not want to face the extra half hour at immigration counters.

Although you lose the H4 status on the first day of work, legally speaking, you are admitted to the coutry (as an H4) instead of being "paroled" into the country (as an AP holder). Functionally, for an H4, there isnt much difference between the two but our lawyer says that being admitted versus paroled has different connotations in case there are ever removal proceedings initiated against you for any reason. That is why we insisted on having AP (for security) but using H visas for entry.

My question is - is quantity all that matters? We need lots of people to participate, but at the same time, I believe that people need to agree with IV provisions too, to be a passionate representative in lawmaker meetings. If the person is thinking twice to register (for free, and believes that registration will help IV), how dedicated and passionate will he be in articulating the IV provisions?
I would prefer to have quality of members over quantity of members. (I am only talking about dedication of members). Am I being judgmental? Maybe I am. But I believe my logic is right. You see, the person who does not want to register is also being judgmental, unapologetic, and he probably believes in his logic. He is entitled to his opinion (as I am), however, IV should not sacrifice its integrity to get members who do not believe in it.
Accommodating people who cannot extend the same courtesy to an organization working for their own benefit?
If people who are affected by 485 prefiling , or want to participate in the advocacy efforts, they can think in:

I was told that Sen. Pelosi did not directly endorse the bill, but she is fine with amnesty bills. I think we may finally see something cooking. If we don't, then chances are we need to wait till 2009 !!

Lately the members of IV have come to know that Aman Kapoor, the co-founder of IV has sold his house and spent around $64000/- towards the administrative costs of IV. This too was brought to our attention from a regular member like you and me, without which this would not have come to our knowledge at all.
So some of the members have taken an initiative to reimburse Aman and other core IV team members with the expenses they have incurred so far towards the administrative costs of IV. Note that the time they have spent and the sufferings cannot be compensated. Let us do the least by atleast compensating the money. Please do not donate directly to IV funds.

My inputs may not help you , but I am posting it so that it could prevent others from making this mistake..

A safe bet for dependet is to use EAD instead of getting H1b and going thru all stamping coplications. Being a spouse of GC applicant has lots of advantages...:D.

There were few employers too who attended the rally because they believed in the cause.
I spoke to a French guy, forgot his IV handle, he got his EAD recently, he flew all the way from Miami, he googled up immigration and found IV 2 weeks back, looked at the rally stuff and came and attended the rally.
Hats of to all these people who have respected IV with passion.

Receipt Date - AUG 27 (or very close to it. Sorry, I don't remember actual date)
Service center - TSC
If EAD received - SEP 1st (both EAD's)
FP - SEP 8th (both)
SSN - applied on SEP 6, received on SEP 13th (today)
