Yeah, that means a maximum of three images got more than one vote. So it was either 3 nominees or 17. I guess having more judges might've helped.
Well maybe Kirupa could've just overridden us and decided for himself.

I am a GC holder now and there are many people like me who are also would like to continue to contribute some money from time to time. I will get in touch with all my friends to contribute something even after GC to fight this noble cause.

Not sure of schools since I dont have any kids of school going age yet. However dont expect that much disp[arity in educational standards from Toronto.
Yes employment opp from spouse may be limited. However there is atleast a chance compared to staying in the US. Windsor real estate is also much cheaper than Toronto (you can buy a decent home in Windsor for 200 K. You will need 300 K in Toronto for same house).
Plus if you come to the point there is no way your GC will ever come, you can always move from Windsor to Toronto.
I am EB3 INDIA with PD of August 2001.

Do you have your I-140 approved and if yes, have you passed 180 days since you filed your I-485? If answer to both the response is yes, then nothing to worry about as you can simply work on EAD.
If you are still considering transfering H1-B, start looking for a company immediately. Small India companies who do H1 transfer can be little helpful in your scenario but watch out for crooks.
Yes. my I-140 is Approved and 180 days has passed. How much time will i have to transfer H1B without loosing H1B status? Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the information Vin, my question to you is where do you see the dates for EB2 India in July 2010?
Thanks again.

well..I have been waiting for my labor certifcation to get certfied for too long. just after Sep 11 I applied both for US GC and Canadian PR. My wife also applied for her GC. meanwhile her GC moved to regional when suddenly DOL thought it was time to regroup and there it went into BPC. In the meantime we got canadian PR some 2 years ago but we did not move thinking that we have jobs here. Then she got pregnant and lot of complications ( premature labor) and during those complications her company got acquired by another bigger firm who thought they don't need her..and result was job loss plus GC into the trash....meanwhile my labor certification even after 5 years was still sleeping in EB3 category(PD Oct, 2001) when i still have Masters( god knows why my lawyer put into that category)..Now my canadian PR was set to expire in march, 2007..so I thought i should decide fast..and i applied for jobs..and I got offer in vancouver with moving expenses paid from califronia..It has been the toughest decision because my employer is Indian here in california..and I have had good growth(10% average) but not the way I had wanted..I guess he also exploits..Indian exploiting another Indian..because they know I am not going anywhere..plus we work hard.. I asked him to match what was being offered in vancouver..and he started converting CAD into USD..well..it is not fair..So I have decided to heck with US and the Employer..and move on...at least I can come back..it is not an easy move because my son being premature child had lot of free facilities in california..hopefully he will get the same in Vancouver until he gets to 3 years ..and then it stops..
I have been in this country too long..and I guess one should settle down rather just wait for them to give GC...reading the other post about one lady whose EAD card got expired just tells me that how inconsistent this GC process can be and right until the end...
Anyway that is all for now

It is really sad.
Pls keep in touch with IV forum. The deadline for this reporter has expired but I will keep you in mind for any future story. your story will be useful for reporters covering this cause and ultimately will reach lawmakers and public through media reports. I wish things could work out for you in US. It is sad and there are thousands of people like you with badly affected personal lives due to the broken immigration system. A lot of my motivation to work for IV also comes from coming across people like you and thus feel strongly to do something to solve problems affecting each one of us in the IV community we have all built. Good luck and best wishes.

For EB based guys, my understanding is that this PD is same as Labor Certification PD which was used for GC - correct me if I am wrong.[/QUOTE]
PD for family based visa is based on the date you file your I-130 for your Spouse. Nothing to do with the Labor certification.

You can apply for extension. Fees are not applicable for extension of status. If it involves status transfer e.g H4 to H1, then you need to pay the fees. I extended my wife, and daughters status just by filing the paper work and got the new I-94.
So if I m extending my H1 or H4, I dont need to pay any fees ? Can you explain exactly what extension you got with out paying the fee .

People do not buy house to sell it. They buy it so that they can live for a long time. And when you do not know how long you are going to stay in this country(because of immigration issues) then why would they buy. There is something called closing cost, who will pay them if you have to sell?
Yes Sir, very true: "People do not buy house to sell it". I am not suggesting that you buy a house and sell it, I am suggesting that in case you plan on buying the house .. don't get intimidated by the bad immigration experience of few folks. My point is that in worst case scenario, if you have to go back to India (which is less than 1% chance), there are ways to deal with house situation.

A lot of times.. companies use this bugaboo of job desc etc.. Those that want to promote you badly enough will find a way.. First of all.. What your job title is v/s what labor is filed under is not directly related.. Secondly you can have matrix responsibilities that span across 2 bands etc.. So lot of times it's an excuse to not have to let you down hard way.. always easier to blame on that "damn immigration queue"

Folks,
It is worth trying but from my experience over the last 3 years of contacting congressman's office....it really is not that important.....I have heard that the congressman needs to be influential et al...that's nonsense...the congressman never gets to read ur mail...it goes to an immigration person mostly a junior staff member and he does what lawyers do thru AILA to get info on the case...they can neither expedite a case nor get valuable information for you...
Regards,
SoP

Can you please help me with this?...I have already submitted the affidavit copy and now they want it from Registrar office. Has any one got it from registrar office in India? if so, how difficult it is and what is the procedure?
"A photocopy of a birth certificate issued by the Local Registrar if the person named above was born in a city, or
A photocopy of a birth certificate issued by the Additional District Registrars office if the person named above was born in a village.
If a birth certificate does not list the names of both mother and father, or the child, secondary evidence must be submitted to establish parentage. Secondary evidence includes, but is not limited to , copies of: medical records, school records, census records, government-issues identity cards, religious records and/or affidavits from at least TWO persons alive at the time of birth. The oldest available evidence that lists the names of both parents should be submitted."
Thank you!
Yes, you'll have to get it registered.
It is not big deal. Just ask your parents to get in touch with a document writer (guys who'll be sitting in front of Registrar offices) and they'll do it for you. Your mom and dad may need to go and sign the docs in front of the registrar.

Is there anyone on the forum who is currently doing a daily commute between Canada & US in general, or Windsor and Detroit in particular ?
Can you please share your experiences ? Good or Bad
What are the frustrations, hassles, issues in doing this.
I have heard that during work commute hours the cars kleep moving fast and officials doint delay if you have proper papers, but on weekends its a nightmare (so wont affect us).
Any real experiences you can share will be appreciated.
Also p[pl from Detroit, MI can you share info on your city. Major employers, good areas to visit/live, desi life and culture etc.
Thanks

The coming back of CIR seems imminent - we need to step up lobbying/calling/faxing/writing. Is IV still have the lobbying firm support? do they have any specific suggestions so EB friendly amendments will be introduced/succeed.
With dates being current I think everyone will say - hey employment based system does not have backlogs why increase their numbers. This priority date movement is so complex its easy to mislead anyone.
