They are just pointing to one side of story. Yes H1B program has been massively misused by corporations and LLC's ( This includes L1 visa). Yes they have injected huge foreigh labor into US markets (till 2004 it was 120K I beleive and now it is at 80K with L1 extra).
But then there is other side of the story. Look at the competativeness of US companies due to these workers. Look at the massive amount of e-commerece, B2C and B2B commerce that was possible because of the work that these workers have done. Yes it reduced labor cost's and increased the pool of talent that employer could chose from. But then labor cost's were always conforming to DOL laws & prewailing wages for each occassion for most cases ( except few bad eggs, which I beleive was very small percentage of this program). So wages argument is not as valid as it looks if anti' s feel wages have been less they need to ask DOL to increase prevailing wages to what they feel is right but then that will make all these innovations extremely expensive and companies will face budget constraints and feel less inclined to try new things. That will make US less competative globally.

I am in 4'th year of H1b. I filed for I 140 and got approved in May 2006.
After that I changed my company. My new company is going to apply for my GC In jun.
I know that I can use previous priority date from employer 1. But my question is with this new CIR bill Will my case be considered under old system?
Please help.

I don't see what's wrong with this requirement. It's always been a requirement in PA. If someone can't produce an employment letter, it's probably because he is on the bench or unemployed and that makes him out of status. If you are out of status, you are ineligible for a driver's license.

What is received date? What is delivered date? How come there are 6 days gap between those days? Even if you assume that the receiving guy took 6 days to lift his hand and receive, how come the received date is before the delivery date? So he received it even before it was delivered to him.

Let us see if we can get at least 200 people who vote on this. Many the great souls are talking about complaining to USCIS about EB1s getting GCs using shortcuts. Some of them suggested LET US write to ombudsman office and USCIS & blah blah. Let us see how many folks come forward and vote for this.

visa stamp is what ppl presume..is indicative of status..we all know that it is not.
I 94..to some extent unless you changed status to H1 from F1 and did not go for H1 stamping..then you have to show the I 797 approval form..now..where will this madness stop
now how can a cop understand and verify all of this crap..and anyway..they give out licenses to only legal residents.

guys cool down it took them till end of May about 2 months to issue all receipt notices for H1 filed on Apr 2 this year. With the whole yes-no-yes situation this month they are definitely backlogged. Lets just wait till we actually get the receipts .

If this is true, how come CIR is one of the main agendas of democratic party. Also remember hispanic votes were a deciding factor in the last election. GOP acknowledges that. Moreover voters demographics has changed since last election. Electorate is comprised of higher percentage of forward thinking younger generation.
IMO anti-immigrant racist voter percentage will be on decline in coming years. So democrats/gop is better off catering to the likes of this younger generation.
Actually it is like the "Gareebi Hatao" (translation: Remove Poverty) slogan for the Democratic party. Something to be used in certain districts for election only.
Just like Gay Marriage issue for Republican party.
In fact Rahm Emanuel (key strategist of the democratic party and one of the people credited for the success of the Democratic party in the election) said immigration
is the third rail of American politics.
It is the independent voters that decide a election, not the core democratic(ultra liberal) or core republican(ultra right wing) supporters. Passing an CIR will piss off
a significant portion of these independents and will create a swing against the Democratic party. A very small swing can create devastating losses in the swing
states.
The immigration issues is in a factor in the 1st generation Hispanic community whose parents are illegals.
Even the younger generation wants illegal immigration control.

How about boycotting CNN. The immigration community should boycott CNN. That will send a strong message to CNN with there current trouble with there rattings.
The idea is - use this guy and expose media that gives false news or that supresses real issues and force those types of media to bring our issue to limelight.
I have heard all media saying "We are immigrant nation", "we need skilled immigrants", "'We are not racist", etc.. then again the same media says "Immigrants are overstaying visas", "There is quota, we cannot do anything", same media has supressed microsoft's news about the Canada development center just because it involved immigration.
I am of a strong opinion that media is controlled by politicians, the reporters who said they will cover the flower campaign - chances are that their bosses may ask them not to or give them another assignment ???

Agreed 100%. Last year I was part of this lottery system, had a genuine job offer but was not lucky enough to be selected in the lottery. I know so many people who were lucky to get thru the lottery but are still hunting for jobs.
I hope this changes....may be after Presidential elections....
