Hey guys!
I just opened this thread casually and found so many helpful messages to a single problem. I am so glad to know that there are so many good people around to help their fellow beings. I sincerely appreciate each and everyone who took time to help in someway.
We often complain for petty things, I guess we should equally encourage the good deeds of other people.

You should be ok. The purpose of COBRA is to have a continued coverage. usually insurance is month to month, so the coverage nessasarly doesn't end the day you quit. All COBRA does is allow you to pay the next months entire premium and keep the existing coverage.
I tried using COBRA last year and in my case the gap was 3 months and my monthly COBRA payments were about $900/month, since I did not have any ongoing medical conditions or foresee any like pregnancy etc, I went for short term private insurance to fill the gap.
Pardon my ignorance Gurus.
But Hypothetical....what would be the scenario, if,
- I leave the job-A on 1st of the month.
- join new job-B on 2nd of the month (very next day) but new employer wants me to complete 30 days before providing medical insurance
- my job-A insurance company sends me COBRA option in two weeks time as required by law
- Prior to I fill and send out the COBRA docs (roughly 2 - 3 weeks), I have to make some urgent visit to doctor...say in 1st week (say, on 4th of the month)
- will my job-A company will deny this claim as they only received my COBRA paperwork by 18th of the month whereas I went to doctor on 4th????

Thats a good analysis. As you noted EB-2 India got only 14K visas as opposed to other predictions of 30-32K visas. I have long said that the variable here is how EB1 and EB-2 ROW demand numbers. A lot of folks assumed that all the spill over will end up in the EB-2 I/C lap. It does not as long as there is no retrogression across the entire EB-2 category severely, making the old PD golden (this is not going to happen) or there is very less demand for EB1 and EB2-ROW numbers.
While I agree with your analysis, I feel that the number of employers/applicants filing for Labor/140/485 has started a downward spiral in 2008. This means lesser demand for EB1 and EB-2 ROW numbers making the numbers available to EB-2 I & C. Again, it is very well possible that there are just enough number of people from both Eb1 & EB-2 ROW categories left & entering in the system to deny the numbers to EB-2 I & C. Unless the state of the economy continues like this, shedding 600K jobs in one month, equal to number jobs in the state of Maine, we can't say that EB-2 I & C can become close to current or leap into 2007 and beyond. Then we might be current and have a GC but the economic situation would be so worse that people don't care for GC. God Forbid we have to see that and lets hope and pray that the Stimulus will resuscitate the economy

I dont care about the fees. anything under 1000$ for 485 filing is cheap. I am happy they are in the process of eliminating substitution since this will reduce lcs. also higher the fees lesser the abuse of the system where one employee makes different employers file for h1s and gcs. I fully support the hike!

I am trying to understand the cause for this huge delay to issue either EAD or AP. Could it be due to a large number of I-485 filers in July 2007 that the agency is unable to handle the volume of requests (either for a new one or renewal)?
Has USCIS come up with any explanation as to why there is lot of delay to issue EAD renewals or new EADs? Could it be the US economy that is causing the drag on the agency?

A lot many can empathize with you. But if you are looking for relief - you ought to take responsibility for how you feel. You already understand the forces of nature - you will get your GC when it's your time. If anything your needless frustration and forceful attempts are only interfering with the energies that have made your PD current.
Just relax - get some exercise, eat well and participate in things that lift your soul.

I know before you start blaming me for this thread, as it is of no use, I would like to point out that most of you must be experiencing the same thing. I didn't care much for Visa bulletin until it became current for EB2 two weeks back. As the time progress, I am doing all sorts of things, like checking USCIS case status, and checking everything that can possibly give me some information. I know that it is waste of time, I know it is not good for health, I know that I will get GC when time comes, but still, my mind is tricking me to think about it. I checked all these forums until 2A.M last night. I am not having enough sleep. I am waiting for a opportunity to get rid of my desi employer. I am really getting frustrated (I am not saying that I have been waiting for GC approval desperately). I just want to share my frustration and what I have been going through. I know I am in a better position than most of other people whose priority date is not even current. I wish they never dangled a carrot in front of me. I am not sure if they disappoint me next month, but I am still keeping my hopes. Hopefully, I would get over this and have enough sleep from today.

I got mine from Walmart, after i heard from couple of my friends. they give 6 photos for 8 bucks or something, where-as if you go to places like Walgreens or CVS.. they only give 2 photos for 8 bucks.

The House.gov web site does not accept email from anyone outside their respective constituency. The Chairperson is from San Jose CA while the other members are from CA, VA, MA, TX, IL, etc. If you are from one of these places, you need to emphasize the importance to them and also mention that we are the next wealthy voting block of the future elections and we will remember them. Now only a Congressional oversight can save us from the USCIS created crisis.

1. The diversity argument is flawed when it comes to skilled immigration, especially when we have most of the grad schools here filled with Indian/Chinese students. This is what I was explaining to "iskantem" and why especially when you are talking about less than 0.05% of the population it doesn't make sense.
2. We don't even allow anyone over here to have an alternate opinion on an issue. In terms of IV activity, it is almost 100% Indian. However 60% of the EB3 backlog is not from India! Now why don't we see these 70000+ ROW guys participating here I wonder! Let me tell you why. Its because a lot of us actively discourage them from participating whenever they have an opinion contrary to ours (read India). Now I maybe guilty of losing it a little there, but I still made an effort to reach out and explain the flaw in the diversity issue he was mentioning rather than mount an all out attack/ignore him right away/stick my head in the ground.

I believe Mbhai did a dis-service by negating good advice. What is the guarantee that the 2nd women that this guy marries will not ask for divorce? The best thing he can do is find a way to reconcile, unless there is marital infidility.
