One in the East Coast, One in the west coast and one in between.
For the West coast I would pick the SanFrancisco Marathon (Just to be sure that gsc999 participates :p) on August 03'rd. The participants of this event can choose either a 5k, half marathon or a full marathon. This event should be fun to be part of. We have lot of committed members in our No.Cal chapter.
I would love to take the lead with this project. I have done a fund raising initiative for Arthritis Foundation of America when I ran the Mardi Gras Marathon in honor of my mom. I raised $1,100 in a 6 month period for the AFA. The idea I have is that Team IV members will participate at their local events and we should pick 3 national events such as the Chicago Marathon/Half Marathon, the Breakers 10K (is that San Diego?) and even the Crescent City Classic 10K right here in my hometown. Team IV should be well represented at these 3 national events.
Team IV members can set up an e-mail support group when training for any events. There are numerous on-line training guides which we can use. And I can also look into the idea of an on-line training coach.
I already have the committment from 4 friends, all of whom are US Citizens, to join this Team because they support our cause.

Actions speak louder than words... Lou Dobbs says Microsoft has waged war against the American middleclass by taking the company to Canada. But that hasn't stopped the company from starting a development center in Canada, nor has the company cared to answer Lou Dobbs in a press release or anything. What I am saying is, we should not care about what Lou Dobbs thinks or says on his show. As long as we being here helps grow the American economy, nobody cares about what Lou Dobbs thinks!!!

I got this Reply from Zoe Lofgren, offcourse this reply was in December 2006 when Republicans were controlling the Congress.
Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate the time you took to explain the impact of the H-1B visa cap and the "green card" backlog on U.S. employers.
I understand well that the success of U.S. companies depends on highly educated and talented U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.
What we need is thoughtful reform that supports the American economy and allows American companies the benefit of the "best and brightest" from around the world.
As you know, the Republicans now lead in the House of Representatives, Senate and White House. As such, Republicans control what bills and amendments are considered in committees and on the floor of the House of Representatives. They have taken no action for reform but have proposed legislating on a money bill in violation of House rules. Should the Senate Judiciary Committee's H1-B proposal come before me in the House of Representatives, I will certainly consider your point of view.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to contact me again if I can be of further assistance to you or your family.
Sincerely
Zoe Lofgren
Member of Congress
this person now heads some immigration committees and is now VERY influential. Plus her response is non-standard, and we should try to familiarize her with our "GC backlog" needs.

Seems that senators had only 1 hour to look through the 115 page manager amendment and lot of stuff was sneaked in that would not have passed otherwise... I wonder how it would stand the scrutiny of the conference. I am puzzled as to why they had to sneak-in legal immigration provisions in the last minute.... Is it that controversial ?
Manager's amend. are those amend. which are non-controversial and have been agreed to by majority bi-partisan senators. People who are calling the manager's provision as "sneaky," etc are against any immigration. This is another pretext to beat the dead horse.
It seems that you missed out on the exciting live action in the Senate.
Senate just didn't have time to discuss all the amendments and provision. This issue about who will have how many amendments was a problem issue from the start. After the motion for cloture was filed they had to end the never ending discussion and pass the bill. CIR bill was 641 page bill, addying 115 more pages is roughly 20% more. Also you need to look at the number of amendments not just the number of pages.

Guys, I think we should have some media coverage for the USCIS and DOS actions. Since immigration news has been hot in the media for a while. It will be easy to get channels to cover this story.

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The American Immigration Lawyers Association strongly condemns the bait and switch perpetrated by the federal government on thousands of intending immigrants who have waited in line for years and were following the rules for obtaining a "green card."
On June 13, 2007, the U.S. State Department announced that, as of July 2, individuals seeking permanent residence ("green cards") through employer sponsorship finally would be allowed to proceed with their applications. Applicants would have a short window, possibly only through July or perhaps August, to complete their paperwork.
Those intending immigrants, immediately and at great expense, rushed to gather final documents, complete their paperwork and obtain required medical exams. Many sent their applications off on Friday, June 29 for arrival on July 2 at the Department of Homeland Security, for the last phase of the multi-step process that leads to a green card.
However, on the very day the door was to open, DOS and DHS slammed it shut.
On July 2, DHS and DOS announced-based on no different information than they had on June 13 when they announced the opening of this filing door-that all applications would be turned away.
"People ask why those who come to the United States illegally can't just follow the rules," said Kathleen Campbell Walker, President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. "But here people followed the rules and did everything right, yet without warning or explanation the door was slammed in their faces. This hoax perpetrated by these two government agencies is unconscionable, and is an example of how badly our immigration system is broken."
AILA calls on the Administration to do the right thing and keep its promise to the people affected by this sudden reversal. AILA also calls on Congress to get it right this time and fix our badly broken system.

Q1) i am applying for the first time for my i-485 that requires i-693 form.
My question is, do i have to submit my i-485 together with my i-693, or do i have to apply first the i-485 form and then wait until i get a respond from the USCIS.
I-693 should be filed along with your I-485.
I was told that i am supposed to wait for the respond from the USCIS after applying my
i-485, and the USCIS will designate the doctors for my I-693, which means i cannot choose any doctors on my own. But in this reform , according to the users' discussion, so far i understand that you can apply for the i-693 form regardless if you have already applied for the i-485 form.
Q2) To simplify my second question, while i am applying for my i-485, and before its submission to the USCIS, can i start making an appointment with my local Surgeon?
You can. And the civil surgeon should be USCIS designated. Use the civil surgeon locator to find one near you:
https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV
You can get your I-693 done any time you want. One thing you need to watch out for is, there is a validity date on I-693 (like a year or something). But if you're filing I-485 in a month or so, it should be ok.
BTW, it will take a while to get your immunization records etc in order, so I would suggest you get it started like a month before you file I-485.

whatever be the issue about the debate (doesn't everyone come to this forum to gain something or ask a favor) Past couple of days I have being confused if my my decision about using the AC21 was the right thing to do as many peers advised me against using the AC21 and maintaining the H1. His article on the EAD vs H1B definitely clears up couple of doubts which I had.

If Paul's hunch that we'll see the 1Ds' successor by September is correct, then we might see cheaper 1D-II bodies prior to that.
As for the Kodak, it certainly has the resolution, but it doesn't seem as if it's generating much enthusiasm. The 1Ds (with less pixels) OTOH has. Removing the very expensive anti-aliasing filter was probably not Kodak's greatest moment.
I think the Kodak has alot more problems than just AA problems!!!
And any time a product drops by 50% in 1 year its normally not a good sign

you cannot say like that. One of my friend got RFE for i-140 ,but 3 others were approved who applied along with him from the same company . RFE is regarding the company details.. Since my I-140 got approved recently, my employer might not have lot of issues with IRS or INS. ??????????? what do you guys think.

It is FBI that is responsible for namecheck ... not sure USCIS has any control over them. My understanding is I-485 premium processing would apply only to USCIS processing of the paperwork.
Might help with name check.
