Lou Dobbs just reported in his show in CNN that more than 400k applications received for H1b (as against the quota of 65k), ofcourse with his usual bla bla cheap labor comments specifically pointing out Indian outsourcing companies.

FYI: The number of name check related lawsuits increased 10 times from January 2006 to January 2007 :) I estimate the total number for this year will be 3-4 times bigger than 2006 number.
There may be a slight decrease in number because of retrogression, but i believe the bros&sis in the citizenship queue will compensate for that.

I applied EAD and AP on 26 June 2008 for me and my wife.

Mine EAD approved: 21-Aug-2008.
Still waiting for my AP and my wife EAD and AP.
I don't know how there are picking files. We both applied at the same time (E-Filing).
Do I need to call them for information? or Will they have same information that in the website.?
Please advice me.

I do not unterstand why so many people here cry on others. You discuss about your problem and try to find ways to resolve. Everybody has to resolve their own issues first(let it be small or big). People in FP, EAD stage can not cry on people who already got GC or citizenship.
Thats true..everybody are bothered about EAD and FP. I am here for more than 8 years in this country. IV should emphasise this and USICS should allow affected candidates like us to file I-485 and atleast get EAD. we have priority date earlier compared to others.

Dont Know from past 20 yrs after coming out of college, for some reason I dont like Infy.

I will be sending the following note to my senator and have already posted it to WhiteHouse.gov. I urge all those screwed by the ongoing retrogression to do the same.
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and totally illogical. When I immigrated to the US, I believed that this country was a meritocracy where you were judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas reward people depending on where they or their ancestors were born. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in half that time.
Since these EB category based green cards are awarded for professional skills, imposing a country based quota just does not make any sense. I urge you to work with Congress and change this discriminatory policy and reinforce that America is truly a society that celebrates meritocracy."

Well I guess one way to make a point is by having a fax, letter and email campaign to let Businessweek know that they will be boycotted.
The other thing to do is get Businessweek declared into a racist publication and every blog entry should mention it so that any google search should bring mention the same.

Will I-485 package get rejected if no employment letter attached?
While rushing to send our packages to USCIS on July2nd, we could not get our future employment letter signed and did not include in the package. But now I have the employment letter.
Experts, do you think I need re-file or wait out?

I want to know your theory
As we all know, the Housing crisis in US is getting worse day by day, with the inventory of houses available for sale increasing, and buyers not willing/able to buy those houses.
Giving speedy Green Cards to July Visa bulletin cases will ease the Housing Crisis in US.
Most of the people affected by the July Visa bulletin are highly skilled people who have the capacity to buy houses, but are not investing in houses, since their future in US is not secure until they get Green Cards.
Instead they end up investing in real estate in Bangalore/Hyderabad etc, thereby helping in housing boom in those places.
If Congress passes a law to give speedy Green Cards to these highly skilled people ASAP; these highly skilled people, who have good jobs and capacity to buy houses inspite of the difficult situation regarding getting loans etc, will help US tide over the current difficult housing situation.
This is something for the US law makers to ponder.

Was this is a change in the procedures of USCIS? If yes, could we not request them to increase the length of the EAD from 1 to 5 years? This will help many of us too. I need to get my DL renewed every year along with the EAD.
Well there was court case related what constitues the 6 years where court said that only period of stay on H1b in US (so period of stay outside US on H1b) doesnt count.
So the law didnt change its the interpreation of law that was changed by the court case.
Same logic goes with H4 (they dont work on H1B ) so it was a matter of time someone would also challenge that on court and win.

I think all depends on how many ROW cases are in the 47000. Especially older PDs, newer PDs most likely will be still in the I-140 queue or I-485 queue to be proceesed.
I presume that ROW would be significantly impacted by this as India & China would not benefit a lot from it now because of PDs being badly retrogressed. I'm afraid that this has the potential of exhausting EB3-ROW row numbers for the rest of the year. Am I wrong to assume this?
