Is the new Obama Administration going to consider "Instant GC" if we buy a House ? I'm thinking about the huge inventory of vacant house and how many could be bought up by GC holders... Its probably a fraction - Isn't it ?
Thanks jungalee, for writing on this issue, that makes two of us. I think everything done by over 1000/2000 people together and every subject covered in letters from over 1000/2000 people makes it to the top. Most half educated (which is worst than illiterate) usually give priority to their petty differences and find reasons not to participate, which is why they remain "wise fools".
It will definately help to draw attention to our issues if more people in the community will participate.

A question about the FB spillover: according to your data, there are about 30000 FB visa spillover from last year. But does USCIS have to use up all of them? ratturani, i am seeing an increasing number of posts that state the facts as clearly as you have stated... thats great... now i think somewhere some day, someone will float a good idea of motivating employers such as MS, Intel, BAC etc to fight for us instead of trying to motivate only the congress... see, we dont have too much of power in congress... :-(

REALLY? Is it a coincidence that a desi company owner will usually have 99% of his emploees Indian? Thinking that employment depends only on skills is not realistic. A lot of the networking based on national origin interferes with how at least H1 jobs are landed here. So there is a reason to have rules preventing a monopoly.

Have you checked the latest news about USCIS Ombudsman's Mr. ? Here I am not talking on the behalf of senior members, if some leaders come forward, make efforts to sue USCIS, I don't doubt about the moral support from entire IV community including senior members.
Once it is law suit, USCIS is the system since it is what created this wastage of visa numbers.

The case should be drafted in such a way that it shoud try to recapture the visa number , and not blaming USCIS for it. i agree its the USCIS fault , wasting the immigrant visas, but even if USCIS wants it can not recapture those numbers , because there is law which stops USCIS from doing that , We need to file a lawsuit to change that law.

i know a thing or two about this eb related immigration. i agree people should not suffer for years together to get a perm. res card, and that too, people who may have been in the line ahead of others.
however, i dont think it is just not being ahead that creates this spill over thing. unused visas first go to eb1, then to eb2 and then to eb3. i think, that is correct. now, my view about this categorization is that, eb1 -- outstanding people, eb2 -- better qualified, eb 3 -- skilled but not qualified in terms of degree or experience, whatever. (pls understand, i am not degrading eb3 people, i have loads of very close friends in eb3 who are extremely intelligent and i can tell you, can easily compete with the eb2 guz, as far as knowledge etc goes).
but, there is a reason for this division and just for that reason, visas have to go thru eb2 before eb 3. if that is not the case, they wont put people who go for NIW in eb2, it wud have been in eb 3 or a completely separate category.
u did mention to someone that u dont want to convert to eb2 or something in those lines, but i believe everyone should try to get to eb 2 (get masters, or after getting the experience), there is nothing wrong in doing so. (if u feel that i shud not be giving u advice, then just ignore the above few lines)
i believe some of things people pointed out like visa recapture, not counting the dependents etc are the kind of things where IV should focus energies. this is good for all immigrants

What makes you think we will not file Canadian taxes ? Ofcourse we will file taxes.
No one is forcing anyonme to apply or move to Canada. Also why compare US and Canada . We are going there because US is not giving GC and we dont want to live in turmoil for years.

Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. But your own country people will never forget you and will accept you as their own even if you have lived here for 50 years.

The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? I would argue that Indian consulting biggies saw that they could offer resources to clients at much cheaper rates than offered by American consulting companies. That drove down billing rates for everyone. Also one cannot deny the fact that persons who faked their resumes have contributed to the decline of the quality of talent pool. Don't get me wrong, bad apples existed and thrived in both big and small companies. But the occurences of such misdeed is/was more rampant in body shops. Some examples are the hiring of fresh grads & H4 & other unskilled workers and passing them off as "high skilled resource".
On the other hand if American consulting companies bill high rates to clients, they are at leat still paying decent wages to their employees. So wages stay at moderate levels. But what This whole tiered employement brought into play was that the actual employee was not getting paid too much but the client would still pay quite a bit, maybe not as much as what an American consulting company would bill. The wages of IT professionals went down.
Though this memo is reiterating the same rule again, they want to send a message that body shops are hurting the overall balance of the arrangement they had prior to when desi comapnies setup shops, and that they are keen on eliminating this source of imbalance.
Aren't billing rates the reason why the Indian IT biggies decided to establish business consulting practices? They are offering to bring the same employee that a PWC or Accenture brings in, but at a lower rate to the client.
The quality difference is also not huge (one lisps better in English and another doesn't); there's junk everywhere and these big IT companies also hire people at minimum H-1B wage to improve margins. Lot of times you get what you pay for.

If Tamil issue == LTTE, no Indian would support (and a significant majority of SL Tamils themselves will not support). Every single LTTE member has to be brought to the court if possible or they should perish in the war. I guess many have given up and many are just trying to hang on to their jobs ..but don't give up ..just think about the peace of mind that a GC gives ..no more headaches from lawyers, USCIS, RFE's, employers, DL etc ..at the very least comment on this idea but before you dismiss it come up with a better idea (it is very stupid of people who just criticize but don't come up with alternative ideas).

what if all immigrants and members were to call their local realtors - show interest in buying a house and once the realtor is interested ..tell her / him that you are postponing your home buying decision since the green card has got delayed ..and maybe ask him / her to tell the NAR (national realtor agency) to speak about speeding green cards to legal immigrants who are already here ??
...if people are motivated then maybe we can do media campaign too ..

First, there is no "profiling" in India. Everyone gets frisked and security at airports in India is top class. Problem with US is "only select" people get frisked most often based on their skin color or names. This is a fact. I am a frequent flyer consultant , I have observed this many many times.
Second, Indians are doing what they are supposed to do. first, they show respect to dignitaries by not frisking or not stripping robert gates, george clooney or bill clinton or any other dignitary from any other country. Americans are not doing what they are supposed to do.
When geroge fernandes was stripped , he had a diplomatic passport. Everyone knows he was defence minister and there was a delegation with him. Secondly, abdul kalam was frisked, which I feel is also negligence of Indian authorities not to be assertive.
So Indians are not doing their job by not being assertive and taking care of its own citizens. and not pressing for their own rights,
I do not feel so bad about Shahrukh, although I think it is profiling, as I do for fernandez and kalam.

I think conventional war was ended. But the mistrust is still there. New organization and another set of gurilla warfare will be start very soon. Many LTTE still in Sri Lanka. They may regroup after some time. The refuge camp will be breading ground. If need peace, settle these refugees to good housing, education and jobs. The Labour substitution is good option for few but not many. The process should be totally elimindate so that FIFO people will have a fair chance.Their only few people who really are need of it but 99% are fraudant people.

No i donot want to meet any law maker especially representing IV because i do not beleive what IV proposes (and which i have to rep[eate to teh law maker) is doing is going to do good to my personal case of GC (and yes if you want to call me selfish go ahead but remember eveyrone here is becasue they want to do something about thier personal GC case so everyone is selfish)

DO NOT go through any of these agencies. they just put additional delays in your PR processing. I got my Canadian PR in 14 months without any professional help.
On an average, they will charge $3000 and cause an additional delay of 3-6 months in your case
And they are not 'PR Processing' companies. They just forward your application to the CIC.
Can you share with us the steps (or a link maybe) to file on our own.? I have heard of Maple a lot and most of my friends in the west coast are going through them. That's why I referred their name here. Note: I am not paid to market them and they are very expensive :(
