I donot think its in any way wrong to come meet somebody and say hi and try to talk to but what is wrong is the methodology adopted by these folks which basically irritates people.
I do not think its any way different then any networking event in Bay Area , the only difference is you meet somebody introduce yourselves and about your product and then move on and then just wait for the other person to contact you, however in case of amway first part of meeting is ok but they completely miss out on the second part instead of waiting for the second person to call they just keep calling you and harassing you with calls

However what we as a community should realize is this is just the first trick under the sleeves of anti-immigrants supported by grassley and co. Once consulting companies are out of the picture, they will target permanent employers with conditions like "the company should not have fired any US citizen in the past 6 months or plan to layoff any citizen in the upcoming 6 months." They could come up with additional restrictions for direct employers as well.

An organisation like this needs new intake of fresh blood to keep running. I am surprised no one from core or admin has admonished the abusers. I had hoped they would be prevented from shooting themselves in the foot.

Why should we give big bucks to big names? Instead we can pay 50% to 75% of that to a bunch of fresh law school grads from Harvard or some other top law school and see what they can do?
This way we would help young talent and also give them a platform to get their name in the front and at the same time we are not under cutting on their fees. Saving money but cutting unnecessary cost is the name of the game.

If we are planning to approach with such a big task which I would think needs lot of experience in the law field and not sure if its worth taking an approach with fresh out of law school grads...I personally feel this experiment of working with fresh law school grads might be risky and I doubt if they even know any in's & out's of USCIS tricks,rules and dramas which they keep changing now & then quite often....
As always experience counts one would choose to see how much experience they have and in this case if we go with these BRAND NEW.. fresh out of law school grads who may or many not have any winning track records might be not worth it I guess..

The most of the guys posting in this thread is not going to vote. Even I think, we all do not have our names in electoral list. There is no sense in arguing who is best or who should be next PM, sitting in US. Furthermore, most of the educated, urban voters will never go to polling booth in hot summer to stand in line to do their duty as a citizen.. Indian�s election of their representatives is fundamentally a show of money and muscle power. Election in India is just a business. All parties are corruptive, communal, divisive, plays vote bank politics. No exceptions! (whether it is Congress, BJP, communists, BSP, SP, and countless regional parties). One thing I can say or compare about Congress and BJP. Congress is the only party has responsible for bringing both good (economy, growth, education,) and bad (corruption and countless other) thing to India. BJP has not done any good thing to India sofar, only it brought bad things to India (divisive, corruption).

He does not have long term independent vision, and strong leadership skills. He was widely accepted by all part of the country, as he has no controversial issues.

He is a good speaker, crowd puller. He is a typical Indian politician. He has leadership skills. He does not have any significant record/achievement to back his claim for PM (either as a ex-minister or politician). For example, he has not done anything to improve the national security when he was a union home minister. He has involved in controversial issue like Babri Majit, and Ram temple issue. He also does not have long term vision, ideas on economy, poverty elimination etc..

There is a lot of debate going on here, about how Canada and Australia have a better immigration system because they are points-based self-petition systems compared to employer-petition system here in US.
I believe the employer-petition system is still the best system to implement for immigration. Its complicated, long and provides breeding ground for exploitation. But that is the ONLY way to ensure that the workforce is not oversupplied with labor and the immigrants who can gather points actually have the ability to get jobs.(look at Canada where Ph.Ds who aced the points sytem are inept in real world and drive taxicabs and blame the Canadian Government).
If I score 100 points out of required 50 or 60 points for Canada, its all meaningless if I am inept and cannot get a job. However, I would contribute to my own well-being and to the workforce and economy if I can find a job and an employer willing to petition, even if I score 25 points out of required 50 or 60.
US has the best immigration system and I believe the employer petition is the best method for adjudication. However, it has its problems in terms of delays due to bureaucratic inefficiencies and inadequate annual quotas. When people in Haiti or Fuji are concerned they were people of Indian origin who were forcibly taken by British folks as cheap labor. These guys went from India. Sri Lankan Tamils are most likely natives of Sri Lanka. Bangladesh and West Bengal share the same language but that does not make people from Bangladesh Indians. The fact is , as I perceive it to be , is that when this country needed the IT consulting industry to boom (pre dot com and a few years thereafter) they allowed consulting companies to send their employers to the client site (I dont understand how else a consulting firm can operate). However now the situation is changed and as per some misguided folks in USCIS going after the h1b consulting companies will DRAMATICALLY improve the job market for locals here. However the truth is that it is not going to help the locals. With the introduction of cloud computing, widespread broadband penetration around the globe and the software as a service model - the services will simply shift to the most optimum location. You can allready see it happening - just go to elance.com or guru.com and you will see small (1-10) person companies based in India and Russia earning more than half a million USD per year. At the end of it - these are nothing but misguided efforts by a prehistoric government agency that is governed by archaic rules that are irrelevant in today's world.

I thought the alien must be present on a dual intent non-immigrant visa to be eligible for AOS (I-485). I don't think people on F1/F4, B1/B2 are eligible to file for AOS while in the US. Consular Processing may be a different story.The H,L and O NIVs are the only ones that I know have dual intent.

The dual intent doctrine applies if a person is on a non dual intent visa and they file a 140 or a 485 and they then try to extend their non immigrant visa. At this point it will get denied.
