I am a patriotic Indian. Why the hell cant this Khan guy go through the same ordeal as an ordinary Indian or any other passenger. Why all the fuss? Is he god??? Hell NO...I would just tell him to shut up and carry on with life. He is an idiot and just doing this for more publicity. How many Indian muslims go through this shit everyday? Why cant he tolerate this 2 hr ordeal like an ordinary Indian muslim or for that matter hindu? Racial profiling is for everyone who is colored and non-US citizen. Thats the reason every immigration bill so far related to EB has tried to resolve this issue. Anyone who says retrogression is good is either misinformed or a pychopathic specimen that needs instant mental evaluation, followed by treatment and observation in an asylum. The observation should continue for as long as it takes a typical EB3-India case to get approved. To paraphrase your quote: "The truly cured would still be observed until their turn for release comes"

I agree but complete removal of county quota is almost impossible ...diversity is just a name !!! US political system in super advanced in many ways(US contitution was written centuries ago and is much better than Indian ..remember the foreigner becoming PM issue and multi party mess that India has) ..my guess would be that country quota limits were introduced to prevent one country nationals from becoming a eventual majority . ofcourse the migration from south Am is another issue)

nope, I understand, I see valid points in your opposition. I had a similar discussion with one of my friend couple of months back, I did question about how US economy gets boosted by just GC holders buying house.
But any way otherside I was thinking what's wrong in just trying.
You are missing the point of the opposition. What is the fairness in this visa category? Every other category has US benefiting (not short term, but in long term) from us, except this proposed category. Do you think paying 20% down will benefit US enough that they drop every thing and grant you the GC??
Also, how do you define this 20%? A 20% down in CA will get your 5 homes in Alaskan tundra (ok exaggerating, but not by much). This proposal basically comes down to haves and have nots. By expending time on such misguided legislation, you are not only making the immigrants look like cheap opportunistic ****, but also giving enough fodder for the anti-immigrants that we are only looking for our GC without any tangible long term benefit for US (I could pay 20% down, get my GC, and then become a burden on the state).

no comments so far ? and this thread is still visible ..so I guess either people have given up or no one cares (this is weekend ..so I guess less people online).
but I will repeat one last time ..if we cannot link housing and immigration ..then I don't see how anything else can help (can someone educate me).
for eg if we say US is losing talent and brains are leaving ..then I don't think anyone will care especially when economy is down (many natives will be happy I guess).
lawsuits will not help as USCIS will show that they are following law and/or they are understaffed / underfunded.
- flower campaigns or writing to USCIS only will only help flower companies / postal department

I might be moving to Canada next summer if there is no progress in my case here...My PD is Nov 2003 EB-3...I got my Canadian PR in May 2005 and I have until May 2008 to move.....So keeping my fingers crossed..I too work for a Canadian company in US.....Wish you good luck...

Best of luck...sri lankan sinhalese and sri lankan tamils...I hope you can accept each other's perspectives and move away from extreme positions.sri lanka is such a beautiful country. i hope i can visit again and explore the northern areas..here's wishing peace with dignity (not subjugation) for all.
If you talk to a Sri Lankan tamil - they are under the impression that Sinhalese people are barbaric and we cannot live with them in peace. If you talk to Sinhalese they say the same.
The thing is - it is difficult to change people's views and opinions. The whole thing about history and religion and discussing what people did thousands of years back and why people are killing now and linking things is just an example of how a human mind is oriented.
We can clap only if two hands join. If one part seeks peace and the other does not - then it is not as easy as we all preach.
Lets take the example of how difficult it is for us to get any legislation passed to help clear our backlogs and resolve our issues. Now, why is it so difficult? It is not because the system is noy good - no one other than US who suffer will agree the system is not working. If you step into the shoes of someone from the other side - you will realise that - things are not easy, especially to deal with Beurocracy.
Will things change? Lets hope for the best - let us atleast do our part by inculcating love and good heartedness in our next generation - let us not tell them - "in history such thing happened thats why I have this opinion and you must also have the same opinion"

I think the entire community should align behind Administrative reforms with a laser-focus. This initiative is a digression.
IV has had it's own share of success with it's approach. No other methods have succeeded so far .
Also, from my little IV volunteering experience I can vouch that our community has very high inertia and is difficult to organize. people are afraid to send letters to president...good luck in getting them to sue USCIS.

I see no wisdom in doing this. USCIS/DOS can screw us worse , if they wish to . This is not being timid but being pragmatic...anyway the bravado talk also needs to be followed up by multiple clear paths to victory.

Dont worry, just foolow intructions on cic.ga.ca and you will be fine.
If you miss any document, they will send all ur paperwork back. If they accept it they will send a letter with a Tracking/case number.

Then fight for changing that constitutinality. Who made it? Why did they make it the way the made it? Slavery was supported legally way back.. IV works in the interests of both EB2 and EB3 as amitjoey mentioned. we cannot create a Bill to get relief for only one category.
There already exists an very small, unsuccesful org for just EB3 that core is aware of, and they consider IV as their competitors because
1. They do not understand and know nothing of how IV works (just like plainspeak)
2. They want to get donations and members away from IV and make money

Please do that before yelling that i was a member since 2006 and freeloader and all that. when will the day come when a lot of us will rush to Delhi.....braving the cold/heat....stand for hours........dancing to tunes of pop singers......while awaiting our beloved PM to show up and take oath of office........just like hundreds of thousands did when obama took office.........
