Consulting companies are just the tip of the ice burg. They should really target infy, wipro, TCS like companies. They are the one truly exploiting the sytem to the fullest. They do not sponsor GC, do not pay the good salary or any benefit to the employee. I also dont see the share holders are rewared. God knows where all the profits are going. (which holes are getting filled)?

How many of us who contributed to IV mentioned that in the AOS application form I485. I guess you are supposed to disclose your affiliation to IV, atleast when you are a contributing member. If this is true most of us will automatically disqualify for a GC because we failed to disclose information truthfully

We have come halfway around this world to make our careers and life in the USA knowing well that the bodyshoppers will exploit us until we get our GC. We are in a situation were we never even dreamed before that a govt agency like USCIS will also keep our lifes in limbo like the bloodsucking bodyshoppers. Now it is our turn to step up and take the fight. We will not lose anything even if we fail, afterall our lives on this earth is nothing but a fight for our survival and what we believe in.

I second that. I filed using labor subst and let me tell you, not all of us buy/cheat to skip the line. I filed using another employee's labor who's working for the same company. My PD is in 2006 which doesn't help much and I've been working for this company way before 2006 anyway. So don't jump to conclusions because there still are people out there who use LC subst. for what it was intended for. And can anyone honestly say that they would refuse LC substitution because it is "evil"? I think that with the current situation we should take advantage of any break we can get.

People like him always will think that you are cheating the system or something like that just because a company offered you a labor substitution. I think that one should not judge such cases, and I am actually happy for all of those who are fortunate enough to receive their green cards sooner because of third factors. One of the plaintiffs is a Michigan chapter member. Though IV isn't a party in the lawsuit, we have enouraged members to participate on their own. Though 2 of them backed out, 3rd one did decide to participate.
We had formed a group on MI DL issue - Mark and me. We have been working on this issue in different ways, contacting attorneys, state lawmaker offices, other organizations and so on. IV has provided us all necessary support. But, most of the work was done by Mark & me.
Same should happen here. Some leaders need to come forward and take the initiative to organize. Come out in public, contact other members, collect money, find plaintiffs, talk to attorney and own the initative. IV can provide necessary background help.
Will some leaders step forward?

I am doing my Canadian Immigration myself.
It is fairly a simple and straightforward process. So my advice is "Do it yourself". Immigration lawyers do normally charge more that $1000 and make mistakes.
Since it takes around 1.5 years for the entire process to complete, send the application as soon as possible. Dont wait for gathering all the document! That will ensure that you get a early priority date. If more documents are needed, they will ask you. (Most people sent English Proficiency and Police Certificates after submitting the application, though they are required to be part of the initial application)
I can describe the procedure:
1. Calculate your points based on the information on Canada Immigration website. If it is more that 67, you are good.
2. To prove English proficiency, take IELTS test. You need to register for the test as soon as possible since some centers are always full. (Some of my friends who studied in USA skipped IELTS - rather they wrote a letter stating that they are proficient in English as they studied/worked in USA)
3. Make sure you have the required funds. It's around $13,000 for a 2 member family. (Again check the Canadian Immigration website for accurate info)
4. Get experience letters if you are claiming experience.
5. Get Birth Certificates and Police Certificates. If you are an Indian, the link you need to look for is http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/misc_guide.asp
6. Though they do ask you to send US FBI Police Certificates, do it later. (They will ask you for updated FBI Police Certificates evenif you submit it earlier)
7. Fill the forms, attach the documents and send it!!!!

And they loved illegal infiltrators for the sake of their votes -- and still they say they are the inheritors of a freedom struggle that demanded the ouster of aliens.
No electoral reforms, no police reforms or strengthening their morale and weapons, the administration is still run the way it functioned during the Sahebs; and despite having won a well-fought war in 1971 we couldn't settle the Kashmir issue or control the jihadi tail-wagger in the neighbourhood.
Minorities were so well supported in Congress regimes that in the sixth decade after independence they felt a need to provide special crutches for them. Show the 'M' card and get the privilege, became the new secular psalm, further shrinking the space and opportunities for the condemned majority.
More than anything else they tried to wreck the morale of the assertive Hindus who faced the onslaught of invaders for 12 centuries with unparalleled bravery and with invincible spirit to protect their culture and the fragrance of the land. Yet, a large section of Hindus today feel cheated and anguished.
They form governments in 12 states, prove they can run the country beautifully with a coalition of 25 parties with diametrically opposed ideologies. And one of their Swayamsewaks unfurled the tricolour six times from the ramparts of the Red Fort [Images] as the prime minister, impressed world leaders and the international media with a record of infrastructure-building, communication revolution and women's empowerment, chose a Muslim to be the President and conducted Pokhran II by fooling the CIA's 'eyes', and resisted extraordinary world pressure and sanctions.
Yet, they are called anti-development, anti-women, even anti-social. In not a single so-called mainstream media outlet are their views published, but every news item is scanned to hurl stones on them through editorialising on the front-page.
Still, they are the very objective face of our independent media.
The choicest abuses used by 'decent guarantors of the freedom of expression' columnists and editorial-writers can be collected as a bouquet of India's uncivilised lexicon, yet their films against the very spirit of Hindu nature get widely supported by a regime that survives on Hindu money and votes.
Their love for development and secularism is so deep that they can send dredgers to destroy a million years of faith and marine life because that was Ram Sethu, but won't dare to touch a six feet by six feet dargah in the middle of the road blocking the highway and causing accidents, for fear of annoying a vote-bank.
And then they say, they are the future of India.
Those who opposed the Ayodhya temple movement, wore silence over the plight of Kashmiri Hindus, damaged the Ram Sethu [Images] and denied Lord Rama [Images] ever existed, denied the violence at the Godhra railway station, and embraced the butchers of 1984, are collectively gunning at Varun Gandhi's [Images] political life.
Column after column by Padma Shris in the media have created an atmosphere where supporting Varun has become a sin. Why? The simple reason is that the farmhouse of Gandhi-Nehru politics has been broken and a scion of the family chose to speak out as his conscience directed.

It looks like my post which was meant to bring some awareness to the innocent civilians being killed in SL has lost its purpose. Here are some clarification which will respond to atleast some posts:
1) There is no support for LTTE, not by Indian govt, not by USA, UN or any other country and neither by me
2) Post is not to gather support for LTTE, post is to gather support for INNOCENT CIVILIANS being killed. Now both sides killed civilians, recent report by UN (third party which is neutral - if neutral or UN still carries any value) shows SL army bombing the civilian safe-zone which is an outrage.
3) SL tamils are not Indian citizens. If we get US citizenship do you think anyone in USA will treat you as american, you are Indian American. My reference to Indians in SL is the same, thought you guys are smart enough to understand that.
4) Our Indian government with all its might..should not keep quiet and let the ethnic cleansing happen..kill all the LTTE no one cares..but killing all tamilians or most of them to keep others quiet is outageous. Bringing out this atrocity is the point of my post.
And guys..I am not a tamilian..I am an Indian..if this happens to any other group in India I will stand up and shout with the same ferocity with which I posted this. Standing up for good cause and protecting human values anywhere in the world need not require us belonging to a particular community. Being human is enough!

Columbus brought Rajiv Khanna and Sheela Murthy to create/interpret all the immigration rules for this new found land. When Columbus landed here, he declared all native americans as illegal premanent residents. All of them had to go through a change of status process (I-539) to become legal permament residents. Well.....native Indian did not have latestes or any pay stubs...so they had to go out of the country and re-enter to claim their legal status.....that's why they moved to South Dacota. I applied for a labor substitution in 2003. The old labor had a master degree given out in may of 1999 and I had mine in august of 1999. In my opinion MMS may be a nice person and may be a good economist, but it wasn't him who was running the govt. and it will not be him if he comes back again. It is a very common practice in India, a chemist will run a chemist shop but the License is in somebody else's name. Here also same thing happened, you saw Manmohan Singh on PM's chair, but it was somebody else who was running the show, and it is deception & dishonesty to your voters. It'll be the whole cabinet, most what was during Vajpayee govt. which was much cleaner & much more agressive on developmental issues, they worked on certain agendas, lot of places where you see growth, were actually the good work done by the NDA govt. You may praise Laloo for all the Railway turn around, but the reality is the foundation was layed by then Railway Minister "Nitish Kumar", AI/AI became profitable under "Rajiv Pratap Rudy" . There were people like "Suresh Prabhu", "Yashwant Sinha", "Arun Shourie", all of them did tremendous Jobs in their cabinet. Yes...only that puupet brought those changes and reforms.
